SpeedofMac MP64+ Launcher Updated
We’ve been working hard on our Mupen64Plus 1.99.3 game launcher and configuration tool for Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

The latest update has a number of helpful features:
- More intuitive interface
- Rom launcher works just like Command+O in any other application
- Allows control of Mupen64Plus’ default window resolution and fullscreen settings
- Volume up/down controls
- Save state controls
- Hi-res texture options (turn on/off, add texture folder)
And we’ve added some really useful new features that all work without leaving the application:
- View your current MP64+ config file (mupen64plus.cfg)
- Edit and save your mupen64plus.cfg file
- Install a new, complete mupen64plus.cfg file (needed to change default settings

Testers Wanted: MP64+ Mac GUI
Edit: project has been moved and renamed to MupenRocket
I’ve thrown together a basic Mupen6Plus+ Mac GUI for anyone who’s interested (Snow Leopard only, I’m afraid). It’s an application that lets you choose your Mupen64Plus window resolution, whether to run Mupen64Plus fullscreen, and a button that will let you choose a rom file to open:
What’s new in this GUI:
- More intuitive interface
- Rom launcher works just like Command+O in any other application
- Allows control of Mupen64Plus’ default window resolution and fullscreen settings
- Volume up/down controls
- Save state controls
- Hi-res texture options (turn on/off, add texture folder)
It hasn’t been tested on another computer, so I don’t want to release it widely yet. Leave a comment if you’re interested in trying it out!

Mupen64Plus Game Launcher Fixed
Thanks to feedback from a visitor named Nick, we were able to fix a problem with our Mupen64Plus game launcher. Remember: the folder your game files are in has to be the frontmost window in the Finder. Otherwise, the launcher might try to open up whatever is selected in the front window, and it will get terribly confused. We’re looking into a better way of making this work.

“Adding a Dictionary” Update
We’ve updated our “Add more dictionaries to your Mac” page.
For your translation convenience, we’ve added the following new translation dictionaries:
- FreeDict.de English to Spanish Dictionary
- FreeDict.de Spanish to English Dictionary
- FreeDict.de English to German Dictionary
- FreeDict.de German to English Dictionary
We’ve also added more helpful and aesthetically-pleasing dictionary icons, like this one:
Two weeks of SpeedofMac and new Dictionary.app tutorial
Today, SpeedofMac.com is two weeks old! We’re off to a pretty good start. We’ve had almost 100 visitors from over 15 countries who looked at nearly 600 pages.
We’ve also just added a guide on how to add additional dictionaries to the default Mac OS X dictionary application, Dictionary.app. We’ve put up:
- Two French dictionaries (one modern one and the Littré)
- The Oxford English Collocation Dictionary
- Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)
- A French-English dictionary
- An English-French dictionary
Site Update
SpeedofMac.com has been tweaked a lot in the past few weeks, and we have some new features that you might like to know about.
The most important new feature is the “
Contact Form” link in the footer of each page. The contact form is a pop-up, so you can let us know your questions and concerns without leaving the comfort of your current page.
We’re also in the process of updating and improving the “Selecting Text” tutorial, and we’ll be adding more soon!
New theme
