Mupen Launcher Updated Again!
The SpeedofMac MP64+ Launcher is out of date. Use MupenRocket instead!
The SpeedofMac MP64+ Launcher has undergone another update. The files necessary to launch games with MP64+ are now included in the Launcher, so you don’t have to have Mupen64Plus installed in order for this to work, and it will work no matter which folder you put it in!
You can download the launcher at http://speedofmac.com/speedofmac_mp64+_launcher.html.
Enjoy!
Is there any way to get Donkey Kong 64 to run with this program using terminal? I can’t seem to find any program that will run it…
@admin
I’m finding it impossible to get any ROMs to load. I’ve tried selecting them through the File-Open Rom menu as well as going to preferences-Select ROM Directory but I have never been able to make anything appear in the window where I assume the recognised ROMs are supposed to appear, let alone run any.
Before this I also downloaded a version of MupenPlus64 separately to see if that was the problem but apparently this is bundled with the software anyway. I’m running a macbookpro v10.6.7, and have also tried sixtyforce and installing Project64 with Crossover, but without any luck at all.
Any and all help would be appreciated to get some emulator out there to work.
@Lucas
Could you open up Console.app (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and let me know if any messages appear about the launcher when you try to run a game? Also, have you tried wxMupen64Plus (http://speedofmac.com/wxmupen64plus.php)?
@Joel
Donkey Kong 64 isn’t compatible with Mupen64Plus. For a game compatibility list, see http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/wiki/GameCompatibility
@taylor
I’ve heard that there was a good guide at http://laletfira.dip.jp/uramac/?p=39. I can’t seem to get the page to load right now, but check it out.
There’s also a guide here that one user reported as working: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10113450#10113450. I don’t have an xbox360 controller, so I can’t speak to the accuracy or effectiveness of either method.
Hi guys,
I have a problem with the launcher. It doesn’t work. Here is my report:

@BoxHead
I’m afraid that the launcher only works on OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Sorry! I recommend checking out wxMupen64Plus in the meanwhile: http://speedofmac.com/emulation/wxmupen64plus.php.
@Lucas
I’m having the same problem. you figure out whats wrong? was it merely a game compatibility issue?
@admin
I had the same problem as Lucas. I ran the console and it said:
11-04-30 12:04:22 AM SpeedofMac MP64+ Launcher[342] *** -[SomMupenGuiAppDelegate chooseRom:]: Can’t make quoted form of missing value into type Unicode text. (error -1700)
@Nick
Thanks, Nick. I also forgot about the debugging mode that I built in, and turning on that helped me narrow down the problem even more.
The error happens because the launcher doesn’t know which video plugin to use. If you select a video plugin in Preferences->Video Settings (even if one is already selected), the games should then launch properly. I’m working on a fix for this.
@admin
Things were a little more complicated than I thought, but I hacked away quite a bit today, and I think I figured it out:
To download the latest version of this launcher, check out MupenRocket. It should fix any issues you’ve been having with launching games.
@Joel
This does not work at all for me. I’m running mac os 10.5.8 intel core 2 duo and when I double click on mupenrocket it immediately gives me the “this application has unexpectedly quit” dialogue box and won’t relaunch. Please help this is getting rather frustrating.
Sorry @Joel that wasn’t meant to be directed at you.

I’ve tried wx version as well as the regular one.
@Dave
Hmm, I’m a bit confused. MupenRocket is for OS X 10.6 and up, and I’ll make that more obvious on the download page. What trouble have you been having with wxMupen64Plus? Have you tried the official release?
Hi I tried wxMupenPlus and it worked, but I changed a keyboard input and couldn’t revert back so I uninstalled.
But now I’m trying MupenLauncher. I’ve got the app running, the roms are recognized by when I try to load a rom a problem report comes up. Does this work with OS 10.7?
Thanks for designing this!
@Tron
Are you using the newer MupenRocket? http://speedofmac.com/emulation/mupenrocket.php
Hi,
I’ve installed the MupenRocket and when I have chosen the rom directory and select a rom file nothing happens…
What can I do to make it work? Please help me. (I’m running on OSX Lion)
@Flip
I don’t yet have Lion, so troubleshooting this might be a bit tough. After you try to run a game, could you open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and tell me if there’s anything there related to MupenRocket? (There’s a search in the top right.)
Wow! This can be one particular of the most beneficial blogs We’ve ever arrive across on this subject. Actually Excellent. I’m also an expert in this topic therefore I can understand your effort.
