Emulator Added: PCSX2

PCSX2

PCSX2.app

Because the PCSX2 Mac website (http://pcsx2-mac.quant0r.com) is down, we’ve decided to upload a version of PCSX2 for all those Mac users out there who would like to be able to play their PlayStation 2 (PS2) games on their Intel Macs.

We’ve posted a download guide at http://speedofmac.com/pcsx2_download.html.

Leave a comment if you can get PCSX2 working, if you’re having difficulty, if the instructions are unclear, or if you need any help!

Here’s what you can look forward to:

I actually tried this emu a couple weeks ago with FF X. It completely stopped after the FMV showing the sporting event and town destruction and I was unable to get past it. Anyone know if that’s changed? It was a shame, looked like it was running at a pretty good speed.

  1. I was able to get past that part. Let me know if you can with this version!

Anybody got Devil May Cry 3 working? The graphic only shows the lower half of the screen, and the gameplay is really slow – about 10 seconds to display a frame.

Or is it because I’m on 9400M? (Unibody MBP, running 10.6.2)

Hi anyone, I installed pcsx2 yesterday in my OSX but when I configured plugins and click OK, this came out: “ZeroPAD: failed to save ini /Applications/pcsx2.app/Contents/Resources/pcsx2/inis/zeropad.ini”.

    What should I do?

I have an ISO image. What should I do to run a game?

  2. @Vivi29
All you should need to do is go to the File menu item and choose “Run Iso Image…”, then navigate to where the ISO is located. Does that work for you?

  3. @Vivi29
Are you still having trouble with this?

    Still, admin.
This time it says “GS plugin failed to open. Error code: 1″

Before that, I already installed XQuartz and CG framework updates. Then updated ZZOgl.0.21.204.

    Please help!

  4. It might have something to do with a corrupted bios: http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-forum/122828-gs-plugin-failed-open-initialize.html

I have downloaded all the components listed in the guide, and have installed them properly.. but when i go to open up pcsx2, the all shows up in the dock and then quits.. any suggestions?

  5. What version of OS X are you using? What are your computer specs? It might help to open up Console (Applications/Utilities/Console) and post any error messages that come as a result of launching pcsx2. Let me know if I can be of any help!

Hi! I’m new here, can you help me? I wanna use PCSX2 on my iMac Intel OSX Tiger 10.4.11. Is this possible? When I download the pkg file from the official site, my StuffIt can’t open it!
    Please Help!

    THANKS!

    Alberto

  6. I can’t remember what the requirements are, but give this a try: right-click on the .pkg file, go to “Open With”, and choose an application called “Installer”. It would be good to change it so all .pkg files open with Installer.

I had a question. I am trying to run a game off the disc and an error code keeps coming up:

    “Error loading /Users/alexyvlaso/Documents/Games/disgaea.iso”

    Then another error:

    “Error opening CDVD plugin”

My OX is Snow Leopard. And everything is installed correctly. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi, I am trying to get this working on Snow Leopard. So far I have installed the package, as suggested I have also installed xquartz and CG framework.
I have placed the ps2 bios in the appropriate file.

Whenever I click on PSX2 in applications to try and get it to run it opens up along with X11.

PSX2 then will not let me do anything and X11 says (bash) in the top bar and then nothing else.

What do I do now to get it to work?

    Does PCSX2 work for OS X 10.6.4 ?

  7. @Nathan
    @Mig

I’m having some trouble getting it to work on OS X 10.6.5, so the problem might be there in 10.6.4, too. I’m looking into it!

  8. I reinstalled Cg Toolkit (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_download.html) and X11 (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.5.3), and things seem to be working for me. PCSX2 boots properly, but I don’t have any games handy that I can test it with.

  9. @retromoga
It certainly looks like a plugin issue. Have you checked the plugin settings?

    Hi,

I’m new as well. I got pcsx2 mac to work but now I get a white screen. So I tried to download ZZOgl 0.21.204 and did everything, but it doesn’t show up in the configuration graphics option. What should I do?

    Thank you!

p.s. I have snow leopard white mac book.

  10. @Yuki
Can you see anything in Console.app (located in /Applications/Utilities) when you run pcsx2?

  11. I got this working 100% with my ps3 controller!..

    I followed all instructions
    downloaded : ZZOglPG.0.1.0 , Cg-3.0_February2011 , x11 , quartz , and the emulator.
When i start it, it shows a list of plugins and says they all have been loaded successfully.
i even went to the configuration and tested all plugins which seem to be working .
    but ,
instead of loading a bios from a folder, i want to run a real ps2 cd from the cd rom.
It does not have an iso .only .img and some bin files ,etc.

when i say open cd/dvd , it gives an error.
    I think i am missing a cd/dvd plugin or what-so-ever.

    i require some assistance.
Pls may i have some suggestions or atleast a link as to where i may download all the required plugins
Also how to run original ps2 cd’s from cd/dvd rom

    email ; amresh_amre@yahoo.com

  12. @Amresh
All of the plugins are available at http://pcsx2mac.net/downloads/. I believe that PCSX2 doesn’t yet support playing direct from the DVD drive, though. It’s been added as a feature request: http://redmine.pcsx2mac.net/issues/3.

  13. I think this is plugin problem.

I’ve just downloaded PCSX2 on my Snow Leopard, and I’m still having issues with it. I’ve downloaded everything required for it. The plugins, X11, CG, and the PKG. I even got the BIOS, too. I’ve placed the BIOS folder into the required location which was specified. It’s possible the BIOS are corrupted, but I’ve done the same with other downloads of it. And yet, I’m trying to play Final Fantasy X on this Macbook of mine.

    • CynCyn
    • April 4th, 2012

And my issue always results with this:

GS plugin failed to initialize. Error Code: -1

    Can’t create gsLog.txt

  17. I have the exact issue as oblivion, I’m running SL 10.6.8 and XQuartz 2.7.2_rc1 (xorg-server 1.12.1) is there a solution/work around?

  18. It looks like OS X 10.7 isn’t supported yet, I’m afraid.

  19. You need a PS2 bios. Do a Google search on how to get one.

  20. Does the white window give any errors, or is anything showing up in Console.app?

  21. What version of OS X are you using? It looks like PCSX2 wasn’t installed properly, or it could be that you’re running OS X 10.7, which isn’t supported at the moment, I’m afraid.

  22. Lion isn’t supported, I’m afraid.

  23. @narosis
It’s looking like the PCSX2 bundle wasn’t installed properly. Try reinstalling it and seeing what happens.
